Katja Pilipenko (b. Moscow)  is an artist based in Berlin. She completed her BA and MFA at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 2021. Shaped by the erosion of Russia’s post-Soviet democratic experiment and its shift towards an authoritarian media regime,  her practice engages with the systems that mediate and shape our access to reality through language, perception, and belief.

Working across installation, video, printmaking, and sculpture, she uses light, transparency, industrial materials, and processes of reproduction to create unstable perceptual and spatial conditions. Through these material and visual strategies, she traces how power operates through technologies, narratives, and collective rituals and practices.

Her work has been presented at Kunstverein in Hamburg and Art Rotterdam (2026), Kunsthaus Hamburg and Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven (2025), and Fondation Fiminco, Paris (2024). She has received fellowships and grants including the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius working grant (2024) and the Neue Kunst in Hamburg e.V. travel grant (2025).
