In Search of Lost Security is an installation based on a comparative analysis of news coverage by Russia’s Channel One and Germany’s Tagesschau. The work examines the six-day period from 15 to 20 February 2022, immediately preceding Russia’s recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as the prospect of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine became increasingly apparent. Across political developments, official statements, and media narratives, security emerged as a central and repeatedly invoked concept.

Excerpts from both news sources are printed on opposite sides of six aluminum plates, placing conflicting narratives within each object. Suspended individually from the ceiling on thin metal bands, the plates position the viewer physically between the texts. The viewer’s movement sets the heavy plates in motion, while the tension between their weight and their seemingly fragile suspension creates a persistent sense of instability.
